Meet Amanda, Our New Yoga Teacher!

How did you get introduced to Yoga?
I went my first yoga class when I was in grad school at Dartmouth and absolutely loved it!
Our teacher had us do standing half moon and told us to shine out through our fingertips, and I was hooked.

What do you like about Power Vinyasa Flow?
I appreciate the feeling of strength and connection when I do a power flow class.

How has your Yoga changed since the first time you practiced?
I used to be very concerned with how well I was doing the poses and keeping up with
other people in class. I think a lot of people get caught in that trap when they start. My
practice is much more inwardly-focused now, and I’m not afraid to stop and drop into a
child’s pose if that’s what I’m feeling.

Why did you decide to teach Yoga?
I took the teacher training to deepen my own practice and then decided I wanted to share what I’d learned with other people.

Any tips for someone new to Yoga?
Just breathe.

What is your favorite pose or poses? Why?
I love inversions and arm balances! They leave me feeling euphoric.

What do you like to do off the yoga mat?
I work in theatre, and that’s my passion as well as my career! I also enjoy reading a good book while sitting in front of my wood stove and cuddling my cat, Otto.

Life.

What makes you Mighty?
My capacity for kindness and empathy.
