What to expect in a class with Sonya

Welcoming students of all ages and abilities, Sonya's classes flow from seated meditations and breath work, to warm-ups and asanas. Sonya's style of teaching has been influenced by teachers from Hatha, Flow, Kripalu, Iyengar and Vinyasa traditions. She encourages her students to modify their practice and to listen to their body and breath as they move through the poses. She closes her classes by singing mantras to end Savasana. 

About Sonya

Sonya has been teaching yoga for 10 years. She teaches Hatha Flow, Gentle, Restorative and Children's yoga.  She is a certified Level 1 Thai Yoga Massage practitioner and Reiki practitioner.  

She thanks all of her teachers; Jules Payne, Lisa Flynn, Judith Hanson Lasater, Lourdes Gray, Kam Thye Chow, Gisele Seto and many others for sharing their knowledge and love of yoga, Reiki and Thai Yoga Massage.

Why do you practice yoga?

On the days I want to feel good, I practice yoga. I want to feel good every day! Yoga challenges me to return to a place of balance, awareness and acceptance of what is - both on and off the mat.

What fuels you?

Sunshine, water, green smoothies, herbal teas, quiet days, teaching yoga and connecting with students, attending yoga classes, reading good books, hiking, walking, swimming, kayaking, camping, stand-up paddle boarding, and spending time with family and friends.
