Katie Engelhart

My yoga journey began 26 years ago when I was pregnant with my first child. Curious about how yoga might help prepare me for the birth experience, I began to seek out books and magazines, and was fascinated with what I found. I was soon deep in the study of a rich and ancient tradition.

Part of what made yoga such an effective practice for me was that I wanted to go beyond the physical strengthening of my body. I also needed guidance accessing the profound wisdom I was already confident that my body held, but which eluded me because I found it challenging to still myself enough to hear it clearly. Yoga provided not only support in the birthing process but also a pathway to trusting my inner Self.

Three years later I was able to join a studio and found a yoga community that supported me on my journey. Through regular practice, and with the help of devoted teachers, I experienced healing and connection. Deepening my trust in my own intuition through yoga has informed all other aspects of my life since.

My motivation to teach comes from desiring for others what I have found for myself: all the strength, trust, grace, and wisdom my body, mind, and spirit have to offer.

Off the mat, you will likely find me content in my garden, weaving my way through many plants and veggies. I love connecting with nature, whether it’s on a hike up a mountain or a meandering stroll through the woods. I love to laugh, and one of the strengths I’ve accessed over the years is the buoyancy of humor, helping people move their energy forward with the joy of laughter. Cooking, enjoying live music, and spending time with my family also bring me great joy.
